Jose Chameleone will be heading back to the United States in the coming weeks for the continuation of his treatment.

The Leone Island Empire boss made this revelation upon his return to Uganda following over three months of treatment.

Chameleone was flown to the US in December last year for better management of his condition.

Initially, he was hospitalised at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, where he was diagnosed with pancreatitis.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, shortly after his return, the music legend revealed that his condition had severely deteriorated at the time.

“My sickeness had progressed to point where my pancreas could no longer produce enough enzymes to break down my food,” he said.

In the US, he said, the doctors arrived at the same diagnosis and elected to conduct a surgery in February.

Not out of the woods

While his health has greatly improved, Chamelone said he has not yet fully recovered and requires more treatment and assessment.

“I am not well yet… I am not fully recovered,” he said.

“I am back because  I was home sick and need to be here, but I am going back to the US around May 2nd for review.

Chameleone also revealed that he is taking an expensive medicine known as Creone.

The three-month dose, he said, costs $8000 or about UGX 30 million.

The medication, also known as pancrelipase, is a prescription medicine used to treat people who cannot digest food normally because their pancreas does not make enough enzymes.
