Jose Chameleone has opened up about his decision to embrace a healthier lifestyle following a series of serious health scares.

The 44 year old is currently in Kenya for a medical check-up, weeks after battling complications linked to acute pancreatitis. Chameleone, who has been in and out of the hospital over the past year, revealed that the turning point in his life came after multiple emergency hospital visits and even a trip to the United States for specialised treatment.

Speaking to the press shortly after landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the singer admitted that he had lived a fast-paced lifestyle for years, frequently indulging in alcohol and smoking. However, his recent health ordeal forced him to make life-altering changes.

“I have been enjoying myself drinking bottles of gin and that’s the truth. I have been a smoker all my life. But for the sake and goodness of my life and health, I have put all that aside,” he stated.

Chameleone added that this was his second round at life, crediting divine intervention for giving him another chance.

“God has given me episodes. That was the first episode, so now we are starting the second round. You must remember that I am only three years away from turning 50, so I have to slow down,” he explained.

The Wale Wale star also spoke about his renewed faith in God, describing how his spirituality guided him through his darkest moments.
