As Uganda today joins the rest of the world to celebrate the world youth day, the embattled presidential aspirant Gen Henry Tumukunde has also unveiled his pressure group ahead of the 2021 general elections.
The pressure group launched on Wednesday at his Kololo offices is said to be a blueprint on how to wrestle the Presidency from Gen. Museveni in the forthcoming polls.
Clad in a blue suit the former security minister was accompanied by his wife dressed in white and blue including a deem orange necklace and facemask which is clearly the official colour for the pressure group.
Gen.Tumukunde arrived at his Kololo based offices at 10 am and was welcomed by his wife and other politicians from different parts of the country.
A handful of guests from across the country including Secretary-general Peoples Progressive Party, Hon. Beatrice Kiraso, Chairman bodaboda Association of Uganda, Charles Ndugwa, business community led by Frank Gashumba, lawyers, among others.
He has had delegates from the Lango, Acholi sub-regions among others.
Under Tumukunde’s platform launch dubbed “Renewed Uganda”, he promises to consider the youth who comprise the majority voters once he ascends to State House.
Tumukunde says his target is the ordinary Ugandans, especially the boda Boda cyclists and the women.
Tumukunde says he will stand on an independent ticket under the platform renewed Uganda with the slogan ‘Kisoboka’it is possible.
On March 3, Gen. Tumukunde declared his intention to stand for the presidency in 2021.
Uganda has the youngest population in the world with over 75 percent of our population being under the age of 30 years.
Besides that Uganda has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world regardless of the fact that it has one of the most enterprising and innovative youths in Africa.
