Police in Rubanda District is investigating a 67-year-old man in detention for sexually abusing a 13-year-old child in an act of aggravated defilement.
Girigori Owago of Matakara village Ikamiro parish Muko Sub County Rubanda district reportedly lured the child into his house at about 4pm during a heavy downpour before sexually molesting her.
The girl who is a local from Habuhinga village was reportedly sent on an errand by her mother when she got stranded in the rain and decided to seek shelter on the verandah of Girigori’s residence.
It is alleged that the old man invited the victim into his house and forcefully grabbed her into his bed where he slept on her, he later sent the girl away, crying and bleeding in pain.
The girl informed the mother upon reaching home and the incident was who reported to police , leading to his arrest on the

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson says investigations underway, after which the suspect will be arraigned in courts of law to answer charges of aggravated defilement.
