NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine will be launching his manifesto today in Mbarara at Kakyeeka stadium.
Bobi Wine has arrived in Mbarara city alongside his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi clad in a red dress matching her hubby’s tie, which is also the NUP color.
Bobi who was moving in a white ride waving and flashing the fist sign was uninterrupted by security forces as he made his way through the city amidst cheers and waves from his supporters at the roadside.
He has arrived with his team including NUP spokesperson Joel Senyonyi,Mityana East Legislator Francis Zaake ,Nubian Lee among others.
However, security has been beefed up in Mbarara to avert any outbreak of chaos that may arise during the event.
Earlier in the morning, Bobi wine’s supporters’ who are still struggling to access Kakyeeka stadium the venue of the launch were blocked after police notified them that only 70 people were allowed in.
Hundreds of NUP supporters clad in red T-shirts, overalls, and berets gathered a few meters from the stadium at 9 am while chanting and demanding to be allowed access to the venue.
However, they were greeted by the heavy military and police deployment plus roadblocks placed on both sides of the road.
Abas Byakagaba, the Zonal Commander Ankole-Kigezi who is manning the operation and directed the NUP supporters to remove their red caps.
Earlier today, NUP vice President for Western Region Jolly Mugisha and other leaders had camped at Mbarara central police station claiming that their campaign materials have been confiscated by police with their other three supporters.
There is more deployment of the Anti-riot police every hour at the venue.
