Police in Buwama, Wakiso district has launched a manhunt for a 14 –year- old sick boy who disappeared from home after his Stepmother ill-treated him over food.
Issa Sekitoleko a local from Nyondo village in Buwama town council was leaving with his biological father and stepmother after he lost his mother to HIV/Aids.
Sekitoleko contracted the disease from his mother when he was much younger and has been living positively since then.
Police mouthpiece Fred Enanga says Sekitoleko arrived home hungry at about 5:30 pm and asked for food which was served to him by the stepmother.
However, after eating, Sekitoleko started complaining to his mother that the food served to him was little and that he needed more.
This angered the Stepmother who retaliated by insulting and stigmatizing the boy, calling him a sick child who is about to follow his dead mother to the grave.
Enanga says the Ssekitoleko left home and hasn’t returned back since then.
Enanga says the stepmother has since been arrested. He says police have condemned the act of stigmatizing the child.
