The Democratic Party -DP has refuted allegations by their National Chairman Fred Mukasa Mbidde claiming he was given permission by the party president Nobert Mao to support the NUP presidential aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
On Monday this week, Mukasa Mbidde while campaigning for Member of Parliament, Nyendo- Mukungwe in Masaka District, announced that he would rally his solid support behind the youthful Bobi instead of Nobert Mao.
Mbidde further alleged that he was even given a green light by the party presidential candidate Mao after the two had a private one on one discussion.
However, speaking to the Media on Tuesday in Kampala DP deputy Spokesperson Ritah Daisy Nakyanzi has discarded the claims by Hon Mbidde that Mao gave him a go-ahead to support Kyagulanyi.
Nakyanzi says it is only common knowledge that a standing candidate cannot freely accept his party members to publicly support and campaign for his competitor.
Meanwhile, the DP lawyer Nalukoola Luyimbazi has said that their focus now, is on removing President YKM7 from power until when DP’s NEC shall meet and conclude on what to do for unruly members.
