Police and Military in Luuka District have arrested National Unity Platform Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine during his rally.

Bobi wine was picked up at about 11; 20 am at the command of ASP Frank Mwesigwa the Busoga and Bukedi Zonal commander after gathering a crowd of over 200 people at the venue of campaigns.

Mwesigwa first stormed the venue with his police officers and used a megaphone to warn off the crowd that hesitated and remained defiant.

Other political aspirants in Bobi’s entourage stood on top of their cars and continued to address the crowd amidst cheering and chanting.

However, no sooner had Kyagulanyi attempted to get out of his ride to speak to the people  than bullets started flying left front, and center

Kyagulanyi was pepper-sprayed before being taken to a waiting mobile police cell.

Teargas and live bullets were fired at the campaigning venue before an overwhelming number of over 50 security officers rushed for Bobi, arresting him.

He was arrested alongside  National Unity Platform leaders after the military searched their cars.

Many of his escorts and entourage, including journalists from Luuka and Uganda Radio Network, have been injured and arre in the fracas

Bobi Wine was scheduled to hold three rallies in the Busoga region including Luuka, Buyende and Kamuli Districts.
