Bloody scenes have played out afternoon in the Kayunga district this afternoon after security forces blocked the NUP Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine from proceeding with his campaigns over large crowds.
Kyagulanyi was expected to hold a meeting this afternoon in Kayunga before heading to Kamuli and Jinja but all that was frustrated after his supporters and aides sustained grave injuries and were rushed to the health center for treatment.
Earlier Kyagulanyi attempted to walk to Kayunga with a procession after the Police allegedly blocked him from reaching his destination
But this didn’t treat the police and military well, prompting them to fire rubber bullets and Teargas at his supporters to scatter the forming crowds.
Several NUP supporters were injured and rushed to hospital after the rubber bullets hit them and caused injuries.
Kyagulanyi in a statement said many of the people on his team and other Ugandans who gathered to wave to him in Kayunga have been injured.
“My friend and producer Dan Magic has been hit in the face! ASP Kato, a police officer attached to me has also been badly injured. Many comrades are gravely injured. Pray for us. Pray for Uganda. We shall overcome,” Bobi Wine said.
Magic and his immediate bodyguard were put into an ambulance and rushed to the hospital
