FDC Presidential Candidate Patrick Amuriat Oboi has been grabbed by police in Bushenyi district.

Amuriat was intercepted at Kyamuhunga, on his way to Rubirizi district the place of his campaigns today, and taken back to Mbarara.

Amuriat spent Thursday night in Mbarara city and set off early morning to campaign in Rubirizi district as per the EC campaign

schedule.

Reasons for his arrest were scanty at first although Amuriat has not been in Police’s good books after a Boda Boda he was riding on nearly killed the Mbarara City DPC SP Rutagiira John.

However, that was clarified by the Bushenyi regional police spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime who explained that Amuriat is indeed being held for defying arrest and knocking down the police boss.

On Wednesday, a defiant Amuriat played the gangsta in Mbarara when he tried to dodge being arrested by escaping on a Boba Boda of one of his supporters.

The Regional Police spokesman Samson Kasasira says Amuriat had earlier attempted to play the cops by using a wrong route to his campaign venue.

“He opted to use porous routes from Isingiro district through Buremba road in Kakoba Division where he was intercepted at Bishop Stuart University with intentions to go through the main business center of Mbarara city,” Kasasira said.

However, when he was busted, he wanted to escape on the ride but instead, the Boda rider knocked down the DPC.

“As security tried to engage him, he decided to jump out of his car onto a bodaboda that was part of his convoy.”

Details of his arrest will be communicated later
