Nathan Nandala Mafabi the FDC Secretary-General, has sacked 3 defiant FDC party members for trashing the party’s constitution and standing as Independents.

The National Political Mobilizer Ingrid Turinawe, Darius Tweyambe, and Winnie Babihuga have all fallen victim.

In a letter dated December 7th, 2020, Nandala quotes contravention of Article 12(d) of the FDC constitution as grounds for throwing them out.

Article 12(d) of the FDC party constitution, states that if a member joins another party or in an election stands as an independent they cease to be a member of FDC.

“The entire public is therefore informed that these independent candidates are not members of FDC and have no moral authority to act on behalf of FDC,” Nandala said in a letter dated December 7.

Turinawe lost in the FDC party primaries for the Rukunguri municipality parliamentary seat to Dr. Warren Nuwagaba Tumwiine but decided to go as an independent.

Turinawe argued that Nuwagaba bribed voters with between Shillings 400,000 and 500,000 to influence the poll results.

Babihuga lost to Betty Bamukwasa Muzanira in the primaries for the Rukungiri woman MP seat while Tweyambe lost to Charles Makuru in the primaries for the LC V chairperson.

Nandala has also ordered  FDC structures in Rukungiri to solicit support for FDC and warned that any party members who campaign for an independent candidate or otherwise risks dismissal from the party.
