Police in Kyakatagwa village in Ndolo parish in Kabira sub-county in Kyotera district is hunting for a 16-year-old girl who decided to commit suicide after a 25year old Boda Boda man she was dating was arrested.

Police treated it as a case of defilement when the couple was caught bonking in the bush.

The teenager’s parents had warned their daughter to stop seeing an older man but she only pretended to have stopped seeing him.

The couple kept seeing each other secretly for over 4 months until they were captured in the bush by spies to the teenager’s parents.

The spies dragged the suspect to Kabira police post for defilement.

However, in protest, the girl jumped into the fast-flowing River Kyatakagwa on Monday evening leaving residents in utter shock.

The heartbroken girl threatened the unthinkable if her boyfriend wasn’t released but her parents ignored her.

Judith Akello, the Kyotera District Police Commander (DPC), says they are collaborating with the residents to search for the teenager’s body as investigations continue.
