The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj Gen Paul Lokech has spat fire at instigators of post-election violence.

The Maj Gen says that just as the recently concluded elections were peaceful, the security is prepared to maintain that very peace.

Lokech has threatened to deal mercilessly with people using social media through audio and video clips to warn the public of violent protests breaking out between 3rd and 7th Feb 2021.

The information that has warned Ugandans to stay away from their business in the City center and stock enough food during that period has stirred fear in the public.

However,Lokech has told the media that security forces already have that info at their fingertips and all the perpetrators will face the law.

“We are aware of individuals and groups promoting panic and fear through social media using videos and audio messages. We are not taking some of these messages lightly. We have a very robust force ready to deal with any situation,” Lokech noted.

Lokech further says some of the instigators of violence have been identified after security traced from within and outside the country after the origin to the information was discovered

“Some of these people are outside Uganda and we are soon getting in touch with the host through our diplomatic channels to see what to do with them but those here in Uganda are being tracked down. However, those people who think they can bring anarchy to this country should know they are making a big mistake they will live to regret,”.Lokech added
