Kampala International University Fire

Police at Kabalagala have started investigating circumstances under which a vicious fire-ravaged Kampala International University destroying property.

The fire that started at about 4:30 am on Friday morning lasted close to 2 hours before police would put it out.

Luke Owoyesigirye the deputy Kampala metropolitan mouthpiece says the fire first broke out at the university before spreading and destroying restaurants, shops, and mobile money kiosks.

He says preliminary information indicates that tthe fire could have started as result of a lit stove that was left unattended to at the university’s canteen.

Owoyesigirye further explains that police was informed of the fire at about 4:30 am and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services officers rushed to the scene ,fighting the fire upto 6am.

Police cannot readily quantify the cost of the destroyed property but Owoyesigirye says investigations are already underway.
