Former Minister for Transport and works Gen Katumba Wamala has on Tuesday morning survived an assassination attempt a few meters from his home in Kisasi.
Gen Katumba who was driving in a grey Land cruiser registration number H4DF 2138 from his residence in Kisasi was waylaid at a junction on Kisota road between Kisasi and Bukoto.
The former Army CDF was in the company of his daughter and driver on their way out to Najjankumbi to visit the relatives of his wife at about 9 am in the morning.
The unidentified gunmen hit the ride at a few minutes past 9 am with multiple bullets reportedly killing his daughter Brenda Nantongo and Driver Haruna Kayondo on the spot.
The assailants were 4 in number,dressed in black attire and riding on 2 Boda bodas while holding guns ,they 1st fired in the air before firing at the tinted car and exiting the area of crime.
Katumba was shot on the chest and arm and is currently receiving treatment at Nakasero hospital where he was transferred from a clinic Malcolm Clinic in Kisaasi.
Detectives have cordoned off the scene to search for any clues on the attack
