Uganda Martyrs Day happens every 3rd June to remember 45 Christian martyrs who were brutally killed for defending their faith.
The Martyrs including 23 Anglicans ,22 and 12 Muslims converted between 1885 and 1887,prompting the then Kabaka Mwanga II of Buganda, to order their burning and butchering.
Usually, millions of pilgrims from within and outside Uganda throng both the Anglican and Catholic Shrines to commemorate the 45 martyrs.

Mitala says Government is already working with the Muslim leadership to document the lives and story of each of the 12 Muslim matyrs that were killed.
‘‘I wish to highlight what I shared with Muslim brothers when I hosted them during the end of Ramadan this year, since they are not able to celebrate the heroic act of faith with Government is going to work with them to establish a Muslim Martyrs site at Namugongo, ”Mitala read out a statement from Museveni.
Museveni also encouraged the faithful to emulate the Matrys by leaving a life of truth, honesty and plant the kingdom of God in the hearts of Men and women in the country.
However, for the second time this year, the event is celebrated virtually with a limited number of guests as the country maintains restrictions on public gatherings as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
