Diamond was trying his luck as this was his third nomination after giving it a shot in 2014 and 2016 in the category of Best International Act Africa.
Singer Diamond Platinumz gods must be still very bitter with him! The talented TZ star has yet again failed to win the prestigious BET Award for the third time!
Diamond Platinumz has been nominated four times for BET Awards in the years 2016,2017 and 2021 but the Bongo Flava star has never been chosen to take the award home.
This year Diamond was nominated in the ‘Best International Act category’ alongside Nigeria’s Burna Boy and Wizkid.
However he has again lost the much needed accolade to Burna Boy. The glamorous Award ceremony was held last night in Los Angels.
After losing, the Tetema singer blamed fellow TZ citizens for campaigning him and failing to vote for him. He took to his socials and posted;
“upitia tuzo hii nimeona ni kias gani watanzania tuna umoja, upendo na kuthamini vya kwetu…Nawashkuru sana kila mmoja wenu kwa Upendo mkubwa mlionionesha…Nifaraja kuona Dunia inapotaja nchi zenye Wanamuziki bora Tanzania inatajwa, ni jambo la Kumshukuru Mungu….Na naamini wakati mwingine Tutaibeba…nitafarijika kesho na kesho kutwa msanii mwingine pia akiwa katika jambo la kuwakilisha Taifa tumpe nguvu kama mlionipa…. sis ni #SwahiliNation sisi ni Taifa la Waswahili”
Earlier on this month, a section Tanzanians have launched a petition calling for the singer to have his BET nomination rescinded because of his affiliation to the late President John Magufuli.
The petition was reportedly published by Change Tanzania, a social movement focused on bringing about sustainable change in the country.
Now East Africa has only two BET awards won by Eddy Kenzo and another one won by Rayvanny.
