Health minister Aceng has demanded people asking for accountability from PS Diana Atwine to do in a better way other than throwing coffins.

Police confirmed Monday unknown people dumped a coffin near Mulago National Referral hospital demonstrating the re-appointment of Dr Diana Atwine as the permanent secretary to the Health Ministry. 

The coffin had the phrases; “Covid-19 is not a profit Venture. Atwiine’s re-appointment cancelled. Tukooye.”

Luke Oweyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy Spokesperson told media investigations had gotten off into the matter.

Health Minister Aceng while addressing the media Tuesday to update the public on the progress of the containment of the 2nd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health Minister Aceng blasted: “I condemn the acts of throwing coffins in the name of attacking our PS, Diana Atwine and other health workers. This is an act of backwardness. These malicious acts must stop.”

The Lira City MP, raged: “People should learn to give credit where it is due. We are all doing what it takes to contain this pandemic and the country resumes its economy.”

Health Minister Aceng went on: “However, such discouraging acts take people backwards. and i want to appeal to all of us to avoid such insults and abuse. The PS has severally given accountability on several forums and will continue to do so.”

The Minister urged: “We no longer understand what kind of accountability people are asking for. it is better to ask for it and it is given to you rather than displaying such terrible acts.”
