Maxxie Kizito is one of Kampala’s biggest socialites and money spenders. He has been dating sexy NBS Katch Up host Sheila Salta.

A few weeks ago self-proclaimed Don secured a state-of-the-art Mercedez Benz in celebration of his relationship with NBS Katch Up host Sheila Salta.

Through his social media platforms, he announced that he had opened up a street fashion store.

The street fashion store is called KUBO. We managed to catch up with him and have a chat about his store.

Did you open the shop because of Sheila Salta?

Yes, we always worked on ideas together and this was one of her ideas.

Where is KUBO located?

It is located at UK Mall in Kansanga.

Tell us about KUBO, how did it start?

I’ve always been a big fan of fashion, ASFA is my favorite event of the year and Abryans has always been a big icon for mine! I just felt that something was missing in Kampala, you could find a lot of sneakers downtown but never a shop that really focused on street fashion and sneakers the way it is done abroad. Then I met BUJU and ATTIC my 2 business partners at KUBO, together we started thinking about a concept, we found a sales team, Selam and Sado and 3 months later we opened a shop in UK MALL Kansanga.
BUJU and I met 4 years ago true love of sneakers, I would never have had this passion for shoes or opening a shop!

Why open a SNEAKER/FASHION store?

For over 2 years now the entertainment industry has been put on hold, no events or shows for us to make any money, I have my farming projects to sustain my lifestyle, but I don’t think I strike you as a cowboy do I? I had to do something I had a passion for, so one day my beautiful fiancé Sheila Salta told me “babe why don’t you open a sneaker shop, you have so many shoes, why don’t you share that excitement” she was right!

So tell us something about your sneakers, how many shoes do you have?

I own more shoes than anybody else in Uganda, I dare you to challenge me. My collection is the most expensive with over 600 pairs personally, whoever has the time can go on social media and start counting, I remember in 2020 it was my mission to wear 200 new pairs in 1 year, I made it up to 189 pairs, that was not an easy task!

Your last business DNA LOUNGE with your boss Jose Chameleone failed, are you worried about KUBO failing too?

José is like my Father, he took care of me when I was a young boy and thought of me a lot, he bought me my first Air Jordans when I couldn’t effort them! Chameleone has some shoes in his closet I’ve been trying to steal for years hahaha!

Of course, investments have risks, DNA never failed, we had the wrong people working for us. But I know God is with me in this one, and to be honest, I have the best fan base in the world! Without all your support I wouldn’t be here! Love you all!

What are the positive and negative sides to owning a fashion shop?

Well, I get to wear free sneakers, so that is def positive. I hate it when people ask if the shoes are “fake” they should know that Nike or Adidas have factories in China, so if you ask us “are they from China” what do you expect us to say!? Lol, we try to bring hype and lifestyle to this city!
In a new culture, you should be praising us for giving you the opportunity to wear shoes you’d never wear even if you tried! We make sure that everybody leaves KUBO happy, we also give charity in Nsambya ghetto, once a month we go there and give out free sneakers to youth!

Alright Maxxie Kizito, thanks for the chat, any last words?

Pfff, Love yourself before you love others, I found out the hard way! Keep dressing fresh! And if you don’t know where to find your swag or how to dress just search for us, we will style the hell out of you! Honestly, we have the biggest drip around town. Thank you.
