Police authorities have confirmed custody of the ring leader of a criminal syndicate behind the attack and robbery of the Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate, Gladys Kamasanyu.
Kamasanyu was ambushed and hit with a blunt object early last month outside Green Hill Academy school gate while trying to access PLE results belonging to her child.
Kamasanyu who was driving at that time sustained injuries that left her unconscious as her phone and handbag with contents therein were snatched by the goons.
Police say they have captured and are now interrogating the gang leader identified as Brian Mulinzi.
Police mouthpiece Fred Enanga told journalists on Monday that Mulinzi was netted from his hideout in Mbale using advanced technology.
Enanga says Mulinzi told Police they trailed the Magistrate’s car on Boda bodas from Ndeeba, a Kampala suburb to the school in Kibuli before attacking.
He says the Police Crime Intelligence Directorate has a confession of the accused linking himself to another Bodaboda robbery incident involving a chinese who was attacked at Mawanda road and stolen from 5 million.
Enanga says “He said he was part of the gang that robs the public using boda bodas. They follow people from ATM machines, businessmen including Chinese and Indians. It is the same gang that followed Chief Magistrate Kamasanyu,”
In addition to that, the same motorcycle captured on CCTV attacking Kamasanyu’s ride was recovered a few meters away in Buloba.
