Over 20 people are still nursing grave injuries and fractures at the Hoima Regional Referral Hospital after being involved in a gruesome accident along the Hoima-Masindi Road.
5 people were reported dead on spot in the same accident.
The accident involving a Fuso truck happened on Monday at around 10 pm near Waaki Bridge in Mbaarara village Kitoba Sub County, Hoima district.
Police say the Fuso Reg. no UAT 096V was carrying several sugar cane cutters when it lost control and overturned several times.
The injured were rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson says that the deceased and the injured whose identities remain unknown were all sugar cane cutters from Hoima.
He says they were being transported to Kinyara Sugar cane plantation in Masindi district.
Hakiza blames the accident on overspeeding and says they are hunting for the driver of the Fuso truck who is currently on the run .
