Muhammed Ssegerinya aka Mr updates is out of the woods after the high court this morning dismissed an election petition against him.

Ssegirinya was dragged to court by his rival in Sulaiman Kidandala who challenged his academic qualifications to stand for the Kawempe North Parliamentary seat, to which he emerged the winner.

However , Ssegirinya the 1st respondent in the petition has never been sighted in court and his lawyers maintained he was never served and wasn’t aware of the petition.

During the ruling on Tuesday, the assistant registrar Highcourt civil division Alumu Agnes dismissed the case on grounds that Segirinnya wasn’t rightly served.

The ruling was delivered on behalf of Wolayo Henrietta who was away in the meeting.

Court’s judgement follows a request by the electoral commission-EC for dismissal of the case as the 2nd respondent.

Prior to that, the Kidandala ‘s lawyers had requested the high court to permit them through a court order to go to Kitalya to inspect the books and cameras as proof that their advocate went to Kitalya as well as phone reports.

Kindadala’s lawyers led by Kenneth Paul Kakande asked judge Wolayo to grant them a warrant to prove Ssegirinya was served.

Now following the court’s ruling, Kindadala’s lawyer Kakande says they are going to appeal as the ruling going forward.
