It’s just days until the miss top model Uganda pageant 2021, and one of the contestants is giving her competitors a run for the money.
Gorgeous Rebecca Akoel has vowed to donate the money she wins from the miss top model Uganda pageant to making reusable pads for young needy girls.
”I am now seeking your votes daily for this project to resume country-wide and worldwide God willing all proceeds I will gain from miss top model as a winner will be used to revive the reusable pad making especially now that people are more vulnerable and poorer to afford pads every month, the covid pandemic that has hit the whole world leaving the vulnerable poor more Poorer.’

Akoel says becoming a total orphan at 15years led her to many hardships including lacking menstrual pads.
”There were more things I needed as a teenager, lacking menstrual pads was the biggest challenge as every month I had to go through my cycle, and sometimes I could fear to tell my caretaker I needed them. With my parents, I would openly ask but with a caretaker, it was a different story..”
She says she taught herself how to make re-usable pads and keep clean even during school times.
‘So I took part in Miss Teso competition and by the Grace of God I won. That’s when the pad project came into the picture.I was 21 at the time.So young with no funds to keep the project goi

Akoel says she has had the passion of being a queen since I was a 5year old and even promised her mother she would be miss Uganda someday.
