The Rotary Club of Bugolobi MorningTide has responded to the call by Rotary Uganda to drive mass Covid-19 vaccination in the country by partnering with the Ministry of Health.

The Rotary District governor elect, Peace Taremwa, told a news conference in Kampala last week that over 100 Rotary Clubs, including the Rotary Club of Bugolobi Morning Tide, will work with the ministry of health, Private Sector Foundation Uganda, Uganda Health Federation and Coca Cola Beverages Africa, to roll out Covid-19 vaccines across the country.

The Rotary Club of Bugolobi MorningTide  heeded to this call and joined hands with the Ministry of Health to carry out a mass vaccination campaign at Mabas Cities Foundation to cater for the many communities in Nakawa Division, Kampala on 16th/December/2021.

The partnership  saw many people benefit from the villages of Banda 1, Banda 2, Banda 3, Mbuya Kinawataka and Kireka.

According to Club officials, residents overwhelmingly turned up for the day-long exercise. Officials revealed that over 300  people were vaccinated.

The LC I chairman, Mabas Cities Foundation, Kiyingi Vicent hailed the mass Covid-19 vaccination campaign exercise by Rotary Club of Bugolobi MorningTide and the ministry of health in his area as a worthy effort.

It should be noted that over 400 people  turned  up for vaccination. However the drive couldn’t cover the overwhelming number due to unforeseen reasons.

Kiyingi thanked  Rotary for the great initiative and requested for more help to cover the remaining area which he said is densely populated with mostly urban poor structures and low income earners.

The Club encouraged people of Banda to remain vigilant, follow SOPs and ensure that they vaccinate or complete vaccination accordingly.

President of the Rotary Club of Bugolobi MorningTide. Mariam Tauba revealed that  Rotary has been a long time partner of the government in several areas of focus.

Mariam stated: “Health has been at the helm of this partnership with the biggest global fight of polio eradication across the world. Covid-19 is before us and as a service oriented organisation, we thought it wise to extend our efforts to the ministry of health but most importantly to the people who need these vaccines the most.”
