The Minister for Presidency Milly Babirye Babaland, has issued a directive to all Resident City Commissioners (RCCs) and Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) to carry out media sensitization on COVID-19.
She has also directed that all public places be inspected to ensure the enforcement of all Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs).
This directive follows a surge in COVID-19 cases countrywide, Babaland says all RCCs and RDCs plus their deputies to come up and take action to stop the disease from spreading further.
“Following the escalation in a number of COVID-19 Omicron cases you are hereby directed to undertake massive Radio sensitization and to inspect public places to ensure that SOPs are being observed,” the statement reads.
Records from the health ministry show that over 5,400 cases of COVID-19 were reported between December 20 and December 26, 2021.
