Express fc continues
Express FC continued their struggle to return to the summit of the league table with a 2-0 away win against league strugglers Tooro United at Buhinga stadium in Fort Portal.
Express FC went all out at the start using more of either flanks of Martin Kizza and Godfrey Lwesibawa but Tooro United goalkeeper Lukyamuzi Kenneth was always on hand to get the hosts out of jail.
Left back Sadiq Ssekyembe delivered the corner kick and Tooro United failed to clear the ball allowing Godfrey Lwesibawa to pounce on it and cross to a waiting Martin Kizza, the former made no mistake slotting home in the 26th minute to give the Red Eagles the lead.
Five minutes later Martin Kizza was at it again connecting well with a cross by Deus Bukenya from the right, Martin made no mistake striking the ball immediately with his left foot to double the lead and also give the Red Eagles a 2-0 lead at the break.
“I am happy that we’ve managed to earn maximum points today away to Tooro United FC, we had a good game but we didn’t entirely execute the game plan so we going to return back home and correct our mistakes because we want to end the first round with a win in our next game.” Express fc gaffer Wasswa Bbosa.
After the break, Tooro United tried to get back into the game with forward Ojara Denis running down the Express FC backline but Goalkeeper Chrispus Kusiima was at his best with great saves to deny Tooro United from getting a consolation goal.
Wasswa Bbosa made three changes in the second period bringing on Charles Musiige for Martin Kizza at the restart, forward Raymond Walugembe for George Senkaaba in the 73rd minute and Faisal Ssekyanzi for Godfrey Lwesibawa in the 79th minute but the visitors were unable to score a third although they managed to keep it safe and earn maximum points.
The win takes the Red Eagles to third spot on 26 points after 14 games played. Next up for the Red Eagles is a home game against Soltilo Bright Stars which also be their last game of the first round.
