MTV Base names Azawi among artists to watch out for

Swangz Avenue’s Priscilla Zawedde, a.k.a Azawi, is undoubtedly going places ever since she dropped her debut Album, African Music, thanks to Swangz Avenue, a record label which discovered and signed her.

The talented and versatile star, who started her professional music career two years ago, became the third Ugandan star to appear on the Times Square Billboard in New York City, US.

The other two Ugandans are, Eddy Kenzo and NUP darling, Bobi Wine. However, unlike Bobi, who shined bright on the famous billboard because of politics, Kenzo and Azawi appeared there purely because of their music.

The African Music album, which has 16-tracks, has turned out a huge success, with songs like My Year, Majje, Party Mood and Slow Dancing, bossing airwaves, not only in Uganda but across the continent.

Not forgetting, ‘Ache For Me’ was ranked by Apple Music as one of the best songs of last year.

This perfectly compiled album, which synopsises the Ugandan sound on each step of the trail, has since garnered over 1.5 million views across major streaming platforms.

Actually, this week on Tuesday, Azawi was ranked by MTV Base Africa among the artists to look out for in Africa as of 2022. On the list, she joined exciting artists on the continent like Sino Msolo from South Africa, as well as Fave, Guchi, Av and Victony, all from Nigeria.
