Parliament a ‘Big Brother’ house

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has accused the Deputy Speaker Anita Among of treating Parliament like a big brother house while running day to day business.

Lukwago made the statements on the sidelines at the Constitutional Court in Kampala as a lawyer following a petition filed by his client, Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake.

Zaake run to court on Thursday, seeking a temporary injunction halting Parliament’s resolution to have him thrown out as a Parliamentary Commissioner.

Zaake wants Court to restrain Parliament from demanding a public apology from him in one week. He has asked court to direct Parliament to stop the resolution until his constitutional petition is determined.

Lukwago told journalists outside that Parliament has lost its honour and has been narrowed to a place of entertainment.

Parliament a ‘Big Brother’ house

Those who have watched Big brother know how members were summoned into isolated rooms and squeezed for doing something wrong in the house and later evicted, But Parliament is a house of honour and one of the reasons we are fighting besides justice for Zaake  is to restore the honour of the August house,” Lukwago says
