Security guard killed

An armed security guard was on Monday morning put out of action as he attempted to rob a petrol station in Kijabijo, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

The deceased guard, identified as Paul Lotiang, attached to Saracen Security Limited, reportedly attacked the manager of Hass Petrol Station, where he was deployed, and demanded the keys to a safe containing millions of cash money.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Mouthpiece, said that at about 9:38am on Monday morning, Lotiang gathered all his victims at gunpoint and directed that the keys are handed over to him. In the process, one of the victims held hostage alerted the police, who swung into action immediately and tried to disarm the suspect.

However, Lotiang overpowered two police officers trying to disarm him and shot at one of them, injuring him critically. It is at this point that police responded by opening fire and killing him in the process.
