Nasty Link bus accident

A total of 23 passengers are nursing serious injuries following a car crash along Fort portal- Kampala Highway on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at about 2:00 am when a bus belonging to Link Bus company Reg. no UBF 967K had a head on collision with a truck traveling from the opposite direction of the road.

The Link bound bus was traveling to Kampala from Kasese District when it collided with the truck, losing control and overturning severally.

Police have attributed the incident to smoke from a plywood factory located at Nabbingola that caused the road ahead to become foggy.

Police have since identified some of the injured as Precious Tumwinyare, Wilson Asaba, Walter Muhindo, Cissy Isingoma, Eden Katungo, Denis Bwambale, Kennedy Mumbere, Gerald Byomuhamgi, and Boniface Babala.

Others are Hope Abraham, Amon Akugizibwe, Angel Birungi, Esther Kavira, Musa Farouk, Kombi Mugoya and Bwambale Celestine all hospitalized at Mubende Hospital and private health facilities for treatment.

Link Bus has been on the spot for increased accidents along the road that have led to fatalities. Last year, 25 people perished in a fatal accident involving a Link Bus at Sebitoli along the Fort Portal-Kampala highway in Busoro Sub County.

The accident was caused by  over speeding from a driver identified as Paul Ssempagala who had over 20 years of experience.
