In a rather sensational way, singer Ykee Benda, confirms that he is more talented than Eddy Kenzo.
Ykee Benda, who has largely rooted for Kenzo after the Grammy Award nominee’s remarks against the late music Legend, Philly Bongole Lutaaya, backfired, is also out here using the space to take some credit, interesting right?
Taking to his socials, Ykee, 32, wondered why the likes of South African singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka used to fill stadiums back in the days, yet Philly Bongole Lutaaya, who happened to sing in the same era barely filled any stadiums.
His statement came at the backdrop of Kenzo’s critics, claiming that in this era, musicians are blessed with countless platforms to air their music to a larger audience.
According to Ykee, Philly wasn’t as big as people are portraying him to be.
“If there was no internet in those times, how come the Yvonne Chaka Chaka of those times filled stadiums in Africa and not the Ugandan artistes? – Eddy Kenzo wacha excuses and gives people their flowers while they live. You lose nothing by stating the obvious.”
Responding to him, one of his fans wasn’t about to have any of it as he told him straight; “There is nothing special about Kenzo. In fact you are more talented than Kenzo,” the fan commented.
Yes, indeed, the ‘Nkufeelinga’ star agreed to this take. However, he tactfully acknowledged that the 2023 Grammy Nominee has achieved more than him in music.
“That’s not a debate … that’s… but he has achieved more than me so far… that’s also. Have I died for stating those two facts ?? Nasaako Omukono MpakaBoss.”
Meanwhile, Kenzo maintains that he doesn’t need any of Philly Bongole’s song to go places.
He says that his intention of redoing ‘Born In Africa’ song was to push it further, not the other way round.
“I redid that song not that I wanted it to take me places because I have already reached. I have songs with millions of views yet Philly’s song has just 1 million views after a very long time meaning Philly doesn’t have any song bigger than mine. Numbers don’t lie,” he brags.
