Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president Cindy Sanyu has emphasised that UMA is not part of the newly-formed Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF).
“The Uganda Musicians Association is not part of the Uganda National Musicians Federation and those who are in it (UNMF) are in it on their own. We, as UMA, we did not join them,” she said during an interview in Munyonyo on June 20, 2023.
Cindy disclosed that although the federation contacted her, she did not show interest in joining it, saying UMA has its own goals, including fighting for the copyright law.
“Many times, people see us in Parliament and the Ministry of Labour. We have gone to many places fighting for the copyright law. Kenzo (UNMF president) does not know what he is fighting for. However, let the people give them ears and we see where it ends,“ Cindy slated.
Among the people who are part of the federation and UMA are Phina Mugerwa Masanyalaze, who is the secretary of UMA , Allan Toniks, Hanson Baliruno, who is the vice-president of UMA and Bitemu Ramathan.
