When an artist books a bigger venue to stage his or her concert, presumably, they expect or hope for a huge turn up. And when the concert or show attracts a few revellers compared to the size of the venue, obviously it is a flop unless maybe when the free spaces or chairs are reserved for ghosts.
This is what happened at Summerstage NYC in the United States where the National Unity Platform darling and popstar, Bobi Wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, held his show following a successful mini-premiere of his documentary, The People’s President, in Los Angeles which is now open in theatres as of now.
The documentary film premiered on Wednesday July 26, and the classy ceremony was attended by Bobi’s special bae, Barbie Kyagulanyi and their four kids, plus a few special pals of the NUP honcho.
“Last night, my family and I had the honour and pleasure of attending the premiere of our documentary, ‘BOBI WINE: THE PEOPLE’S PRESIDENT’ in Los Angeles alongside a packed audience of freedom-lovers from around the world.
The documentary captures the brutality that unfolded around us the moment we began challenging dictator Museveni’s regime,” he partly shared on his social media
According to the former presidential candidate, this weekend, he and the freedom-lovers will be proceeding to IFC Center in New York City for the grand premiere.
However, before the grand premiere of the highly billed documentary film, Bobi Wine and his singing partner Nubian Lee staged a live concert at Central Park SummerStage, a relatively big venue, but apparently, most of his fans in the US chose to stay home and probably watch him via Facebook live, which at one point garnered about 1900 eyeballs in Real Time.
The 41-year-old star and Nubian Li performed for about 99 revellers, 14 camera crew, 10 security guards, plus 1000 ‘ghosts’ at the venue. The pair, with a well-versed band performed mostly freedom songs, such as Xenophobia, Uganda Zukuka, Alone Altogether, Freedom and many others.
