Police in Kampala are stuck with the lifeless body of an unidentified woman who was found dead in a lodge in Kawempe Division.
The unknown woman believed to be in her 30’s was discovered dead by staff at at Pleasure Guest House. on January 14, 2024, in room 303, hired by a man identified as Paul Mwesigwa. Preliminary findings by police indicate that Mwesigwa, a prime suspect in the case, murdered his victim by suffocating her with a pillow.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesman says the lodge manager Ziraba Salim, informed police that the suspect booked the room earlier and left after payment, only to return later that evening with an unknown person.
He further explained that the following morning, during their routine check, he found the room open and, the lifeless body lying on the bed.
Owoyesigyire says a team of homicide and forensics experts, visited the scene and realized a possibility of suffocation using a pillow after an intimate encounter.
He says the woman’s lifeless body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a thorough postmortem examination and a case file has been opened, and statements from witnesses recorded.
The suspect remains on the run as police hunt him down.
