Roke Telkom, a homegrown telecommunications provider, during the month of October, demonstrated its ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through several impactful initiatives.

As part of its Roke Gives Back program, as well as commemorating 18 years of connecting Uganda with world class internet, the company visited Bless a Child Foundation in Kampala, Manna Rescue Home in Fort Portal, Grace Villa Sanctuary for Girls in Kabale, and Overcomers Special Needs Education Junior School in Mbale, offering donations, resources, and support to hundreds of children in need.

In Kampala, Roke Telkom extended its support to Bless a Child Foundation, which offers aid to children battling cancer with the provision of accommodation, food supplies and basic necessities. Roke Telkom’s contribution is part of a long-standing relationship with the foundation. Some of the essential items donated included: rice, maize flour, beans, sugar, and cooking oil, which will provide nutritional support for the children in the foundation’s care homes.

Additionally, Roke Telkom contributed to the construction of a new kitchen to ensure safe meal preparation, food stuffs, toys etc. Genza Peter, Programs Manager at Bless a Child Foundation, thanked Roke Telkom for its ongoing generosity, highlighting that these contributions play a vital role in easing the burden on families caring for children with long-term health conditions.

Roke Gives Back_Grace Villa Sanctuary for Girls, Kabale

At Manna Rescue Home in Fort Portal, Roke Telkom’s team donated essential food items, scholastic materials, cleaning supplies, and toys for the children. They also prepared a special meal, creating a heartfelt opportunity to bond with the children and share in their joy. The visit brought smiles and laughter to the children, who enjoyed a day of games, interaction, and a shared meal. Faith Paterson, Assistant Warden at Manna Rescue Home, expressed gratitude, noting that such acts of kindness offer not only material support but also hope and belonging for the children.

In Kabale, Roke Telkom reached out to Grace Villa Sanctuary for Girls, supporting over 400 children with much-needed scholastic materials, beddings, kitchenware, and sanitary items. These visits are dedicated to uplifting Uganda’s most vulnerable populations. Timothy Mugenyi, Roke Telkom’s Head of Partnerships and Community Impact, emphasized the company’s dedication to uplifting vulnerable communities, saying, “At Roke Telkom, we believe in not only providing internet solutions but also making meaningful contributions to the lives of Ugandans, especially the most vulnerable. These homes are doing incredible work, and we are proud to support them in caring for these children.” Through Roke Gives Back, Roke Telkom reaffirms its commitment to community welfare, supporting educational, healthcare, and digital inclusion projects nationwide.

Roke Telkom also visited Overcomers Special Needs Education Junior School in Mbale, a facility that takes care of children that are struggling with spina bifida and hydrocephalus where they put up an electric water pump that replaced the borehole that was being used before. The team bought food, prepared it and enjoyed a meal with the children and the care takers. donating home supplies and games for the children. Roke Telkom’s corporate social responsibility efforts have impacted thousands of lives across Uganda, creating lasting, positive change in areas that need it most.
