Vybz Kartel has opened up about dealing with infidelity while he was serving time.

Speaking in an interview, Kartel revealed that his longtime partner, Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson, had been unfaithful while he was imprisoned. Despite the betrayal, the Fever hitmaker made it clear that he still holds her in high regard.

“I have been with her even before I got famous and rich. Like I said, prison is dangerous because things get weird. When I went to prison, she held it down for years, and then she couldn’t hold it anymore,” he said.

Kartel shared that his 13 years in prison put a lot of strain on their relationship. He said that even though her actions hurt him, he forgave her quickly because he understood why it happened.

“I still respect her as a human being. I am sure she loves me because even when I was in prison, I would still jump on the phone and tell her to make sure the bills are paid. She was there all through, but come on, I was in prison for 13 years. What did you expect her to do?”

However, Kartel admitted that finding out about her infidelity was deeply painful for him.

“Big up Shorty, I love her, but she made me cry. I was in prison crying while you were out here saying ‘Free World Boss.”

Kartel also shared that he learned of Shorty’s unfaithfulness through his other baby mama but despite the heartbreak, he chose to move on and let go of any grudge.

“I forgave her immediately because I understand, and now I had to move on.”
