A tragic incident has rocked Kitengeesa Village in Masaka after a ruthless father, Mwebe Deo, allegedly hacked his Senior three daughter, Sophia Nantume, to death with a machete.

The horrific attack, which took place in the dead of night, was reportedly fueled by heartless Mwebe’s anger.

Nantume, a former student at Buddu Islamic Secondary School, was asleep at home when her father launched the brutal attack. Witnesses say he arrived at the house late, visibly agitated, and sharpened his machete before striking.

Her paternal grandmother, Maidinah Nakayi, recounted the horrifying moment.

“He asked for my bedroom keys, but I refused. Then at around 1 a.m., he hacked my granddaughter to death,” Nakayi said.

Mwebe reportedly accused Nantume of betraying him by alerting the police about his movements.

Though he initially attempted to flee, he later surrendered, only to face the wrath of an angry mob that lynched him.

His weapons were seized as the community tried to come to terms with the shocking crime.

While some residents suspected Mwebe was battling mental illness or substance abuse, others expressed disbelief, saying he had no known history of drug use.

Greater Masaka Police Spokesperson, Twaha Kasirye, confirmed that investigations were ongoing. He also cautioned parents against being excessively harsh on their children, noting that Mwebe had once been regarded as a “mummy’s boy” before his behavior took a dark turn.
