President Yoweri Museveni was among tens of Kampala’s top political and business class at the residence of former Prime Minister and rival in the 2016 Presidential elections, Amama Mbabazi for the Kuhingira of daughter Bridget Birungi Rwakairu and Ramaphosa Andile, son to South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Bridget whose mother Peace Ruhindi is the younger sister of Jacqueline Mbabazi was brought up by the Mbabazi family after her father, Shadrack Rwakairu, was allegedly killed by the UNLA in 1983.

President Museveni and wife Janet Museveni were received by the Mbabazis at their home in Kololo ahead of the day’s events.

. went on to hail the Mbabazis: “I want to congratulate and Jacqueline Mbabazi for bringing up Bridget, whose father was killed at an early age of 30, because of our struggle.”

He added: “Bridget’s father was killed during the struggle. You’ve heard. Many people don’t know that. In the 1960s there were very many orphans and skeletons. When we won the war in 1986,we managed to mange that crisis. We set up schools for orphans.”

The President shook hands with Mbabazi and then his wife Jacqueline who was by his side.

The pair were in jovial mood clearly illustrated on their faces.

The President was flanked by the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, who replaced Mbabazi.

President Museveni and Janet were then sat on the same table as the Mbabazis with the former on the left side.

Top on Kampala’s A-list included; Buganda premier Charles Peter Mayiga, Governor Bank of Uganda Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, Gen. Mugisha Muntu, Miria Matembe, businessman Gordon Wavamunno and FDC Chairman Waswa Birigwa.
