FDC mouthpiece Ibahim Ssemujju Nganda has blasted Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba who has confirmed joining NRM party.

Prof. Baryamureeba contested the Presidential elections in 2016 on an independent ticket. NRM party flag bearer President Yoweri Museveni went on to claim victory.

Ssemujju, Kira Municipality Member of Parliament, appeared on NBS morning breeze programme alongside the former Makerere University Vice Chancellor.

The soft spoken journalist turned politician said: “I was one of those who had been made to believe that Prof. Barya was an asset, I even went to interview him during his Vice Chancellor days.”

Ssemujju recalled: “But Prof Baryamureeba has done very many things like those of Ignatius Chombo of Zimbabwe.”

The FDC spokesman regretted: “Someone of Prof. Barya’s caliber should be discussing issues affecting this country and giving us solutions but he also wants to join the table which is disappointing. He’s shaming the title of a professor.”

Ssemujju blasted: “I’m expressing disappointment in professors like Barya and Kamulegeya. You should be campaigning to offer this country leadership but instead, you’re joining a group that is doing things that I’ve been listing as hindrances.”

He continued: “The country should be involved in a debate on how to make Uganda better and it should be led by professors. Increasingly, they’ve become fortune hunters and that’s a disappointment.”
