People along Kiwatule-Ntinda road were left in shock Thursday morning when a lorry tipper rammed into a taxi causing multiple motor accidents as a number of passengers and road users were left fighting for their lives.

According to eye witnesses, the lorry tipper number UAX 495M, carrying loads of sand and stones, incurred a break failure. Eye witnesses say the driver in trying to keep safe by guiding the tipper to a side tree, had a taxi join in his path.

The tipper according to the eye witnesses rammed into the taxi causing numerous accidents but with no deaths registered.

The OC Kiira Road Micheal Kasigire revealed to Galaxy FM that the accident was caused by the lorry tipper.

Kasigire said: “The lorry carrying sand and stones failed to break. It was coming from Nalya. It rammed into 10 cars and two boda boda motorcylces. One of the boda bodas caught fire as you can see.”

Engineer Ronald Balimwezo Mayor Nakawa: “It failed to break. it hit 10 vehviles. they were people on a boda and one was flashed into the drainage. On the spot no one died. They were two and were taken to hospital (Mulago). These vehicles of pressure are hard to control.”

Similar accident

Early this year in April, 16 people were badly injured after a runaway truck loaded with granite ploughed through stationary cars at the Kira Road traffic lights, coming from Bukoto, failed to brake, jumped two red lights and ploughed into seven cars.
