The FUBA National Basketball League (NBL) returned last night, Wednesday with the semi-final shiwdowns as JKL Lady Dolphins and Betway Power picked up vital wins.
Stellah Oyella had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds as her side JKL Lady Dolphins recorded a 54-46 win against KIU Rangers at Lugogo indoor Arena.
KIU put up a spinted fight in the first three quarters of the game through Racheal Akinyi and Brenda Aujat but a Malinga managed side made it impossible for the Rangers with unending three-pointers in the last quarter to clinch game one.
Racheal Akinyi had almost half of KIU Rangers points with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Later on in the night, in the men’s semi finals, last year’s finalists Power Basketball club fought to the death of the game to record a 59-56 game one win over the UCU Canons courtesy of Joseph Ikong and Syrus Kiviiri sublime performances.
The duo combined for 23 points to propel the powers to a three points win. Syrus Kiviiri had 12 points and three assists while Joseph Ikong recorded 11 points and three assists also.
David Kongo Deng was the games score leader with 18 points and eight rebounds respectively for the university side.
Action resumes tomorrow as UCU Lady Canons take on KCCA Leopards in the other ladies semi-finals before the men’s defending champions City Oilers continue their quest for a 7th title in a row with a game one match up against Warriors later in the night.
