Abdul Lumala featured in his first game after three months without kicking the ball as Pyramids lost 1-0 to Zanaco in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter final in Cairo.

He had his shot saved by the Zanaco goalkeeper in the first half before he was withdrawn for defender Mohamad Hamid.

He returned to training last month after a successful knee surgery of his left leg in December.

His last game had been a 2-2 draw with Aswan sports club in the Egyptian league on 27th November.

Lumala is part of the Uganda Cranes squad that will face South Sudan in the AFCON qualifiers double header at the end of the month.

Despite a 1-0 defeat to Zanaco, Pyramids advanced with a 3-1 aggregate tontje semi finals where they will face Robert Odongkara’s Horoya who beat Enyimba.

Odongkara was an unused substitute as the Guinea champions defeated Enyimba 2-0 to progress on a 3-1 aggregate.

The other semi final will have a Morrocan affair between Hassania Agadir and RS Berkane.

Berkane beat Al Masry 3-2 on aggregate while Hassania Agadir thumped Libya’s Al Nasr Benghazi 7-0 over two legs.
