Following the dramatic scene at Kampala capital city Authority KCCA that stirred a wave of panic at the Kampala capital city authority -KCCA, all staff have been asked to test for COVID -19 starting Monday 8th June 2020.
Four staff at KCCA including a cleaner , driver, and two technical staff who presented with signs and symptoms of COVID -19 were picked up by an emergency response team from office after testing positive.
The Kampala minister Betty Amongi says the immediate contacts of the 4 have already been isolated while KCCA traces for others.
Amongi says that they have already started testing staff at the city hall clinic and are targeting over 500 persons.
She says the exercise begun with security guards and everyone will eventually be tested.
The acting Executive Director ED KCCA Andrew Kitaka has In a 5th June letter, encouraged the staff that must report to the office to first pass by the city hall clinic before setting foot at their designated work station today.
He has also advised other staff to work from within a distance if they must not report to the office.
As of now, the Ministry of Health and the Office of the Prime Minister officials have been affected by COVID-19.
22 frontline health workers with 9 from Kampala have tested positive for the virus.
Also, all the staff at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) who came close to the Covid-19 cases confirmed on Friday have been told to go into self-quarantine.
